Channel 11's Cara Sapida has learned the house used to house passengers who got off at the historic train station across the street.

“When the E train station was here, it was individual rooms, so people traveling could have a place for overnight,” the house’s owner, Ed Zatta, said.

The home had since been converted into four apartments that are now all destroyed, leaving the tenants - four adults and five children - looking for a new place to live.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Red Cross is providing assistance to those displaced by the fire.
