HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Crews were working late Saturday morning to contain and clean up a fuel spill on South Center Avenue in Hempfield Township.

According to our news partners at the Trib, Hempfield Assistant Chief Don Thoma said a truck delivering a piece of heavy equipment to Case Construction crashed and started leaking fuel.

Firefighters laid absorbent pads along South Center Avenue to help soak up the spilled fuel, the Trib reports.

Belson Run is about 1,000 feet south of where the fuel spilled, but Thoma told the Trib that he doesn’t think it made it to the creek.
