Firefighters battle fully involved house fire in Plum

PLUM, Pa. — Firefighters rushed to the scene of a fully involved house fire Monday afternoon in Allegheny County.

Officials said the blaze was reported at Carl Patty’s home on Logan’s Ferry Road in Plum just after 3 p.m.

Patty -- who had to be rescued from the home -- and a woman were seen leaving the scene on stretchers, but they appeared to be OK.

Officials said a dog was also rescued from the home. It had a burned paw.

People who live in the area reported hearing explosions during the fire and authorities said they were caused by ammunition inside the home.

“We were really worried about them,” neighbor Karen Tribou said. “I only really had a chance to ask him if he was OK and he said he was. He was worried about the dog.”

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
