Todd Zwicker has worked in the beer business long enough to understand how unusual his new opportunity is at Pittsburgh Brewing Co., the long-time maker of Iron City Beer.
More than 10 years after the company stopped making beer at its original brewery in Lawrenceville, opting for a contract brewing arrangement out of Latrobe, Pittsburgh Brewing is nearing completion of building out the historic Pittsburgh Plate Glass Plant along the Creighton riverfront into a new brewery for Iron City.
“Most breweries never get the opportunity to bring its production back,” he said, while leading a tour of the quickly transforming 170,000-square-foot facility. “That does not happen. Rare would be an understatement.”
