PITTSBURGH — Many people are flying home after their visits for the Thanksgiving holiday; however, some people are running into problems as flight delays are popping up.

More than 1,000 flights were delayed Sunday across the United States, and nearly 50 flights were canceled, according to FlightAware.com.

AAA said close to 55 million people were expected to travel at least 50 miles from home this weekend, which is a 98% increase from pre-pandemic travel levels.

The weather has also made travel difficult for people coming across our region Sunday. Heavy rain, strong winds and hail have moved across the northeast part of the state, impacting lots of people who have been trying to get home and get ready for the workweek.
