TAMPA BAY — Former Pitt and WPIAL star Jordan Whitehead was injured in a crash.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers released a statement on Saturday saying:

“Jordan Whitehead was involved in an auto accident this morning on his way to our practice facility. Due to injuries sustained in the accident, he will not play in Sunday’s game against the New Orleans Saints and has been placed on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury (NFI) list. We have signed Ryan Neal from our practice squad to the 53-man roster.”

The Beaver County native played for Central Valley in high school before graduating and going to Pitt.

According to the Buccaneers, Whitehead just got off injury reserve to start against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday after recovering from a pectoral injury.

In that game, he made two tackles for a loss, a quarterback hit and defended three passes.
