PITTSBURGH — Former Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Justin Schultz announced his retirement from the NHL Wednesday.
Schultz played for the Penguins for five seasons, including the back-to-back Stanley Cup-winning teams in 2016 and 2017.
Schultz, 34, last played for the Seattle Kraken in the 2023-2024 season. He played in 70 games and recorded seven goals and 19 assists.
Schultz was selected by the Anaheim Ducks in the second round (No. 43) of the 2008 NHL Draft but had already committed to the University of Wisconsin. He made his NHL debut in 2013 with the Edmonton Oilers.
