WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A fugitive who was previously convicted of aggravated assault was arrested in Wilkinsburg Wednesday.
The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office said Shawn Frye-Culbreth, 21, has been a fugitive since July when a bench warrant was issued concerning a probation violation for a 2021 guilty plea of aggravated assault and a firearms charge.
Frye-Culbreth also had an active warrant from July for a number of drug and firearms charges.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for a house on Belmont Street and executed it at 8 a.m. Wednesday. When they approached the home, they saw Frye-Culbreth moving around inside, the sheriff’s office said.
Frye-Culbreth was taken into custody without further incident. During his arrest, detectives saw suspected narcotics in plain view and applied for an additional search warrant, which produced a number of items, including nine bricks of a suspected heroin/ fentanyl mix and a Taurus 9mm handgun that had been reported stolen nearly three years ago, the sheriff’s office said.
Frye-Culbreth was transported to the Allegheny County Jail on the existing warrants and will face arraignment on a number of new charges connected to Wednesday’s search warrant.
