PITTSBURGH — Not only did the state of Pennsylvania record its highest-ever gas prices Saturday, but the Pittsburgh area did as well.
Gas in the Pittsburgh area is now averaging $4.06 a gallon-- the highest average ever, according to AAA.
These prices have drivers wanting to leave the car parked at home.
Channel 11 viewers are taking to social media about the high gas prices.
“Our loan was approved and we are closing on a full tank of gas next week,” one viewer wrote.
“And the great Governor should eliminate the gas tax,” said another.
Drivers are also feeling the pain at the pump.
“I feel on edge, it’s getting ridiculous, $4 a gallon,” said Keith Butler. “It costs a lot of money to turn the car on.”
“For the first time, I could not believe this,” Siddhardh Kawar said. “When I came to Pittsburgh, I’m used to paying $27, and now it’s like $41.”
According to AAA, drivers were paying around $2.96 a year ago in Pennsylvania. If you had to fill up across the state today, you’re paying an average of $4.08.
Stay with Channel 11 as we continue to monitor rising fuel costs across the area.
