Arrest warrant issued for grandmother after infant revived by Narcan in McKees Rocks

MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman after her 10-month-old grandchild had to be revived with Narcan in McKees Rocks.

Robbie Boyer, 47, is facing charges of aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of children and possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On Sunday night. police and medics were sent to a home on Fair Oaks Street at around 8:44 p.m. for reports of an unresponsive child.

Allegheny County police said first responders used naloxone to revive the baby, a medicine that rapidly reverses an opioid overdose. The baby then became responsive and was rushed to Children’s Hospital. The infant is currently in stable condition.

Police then obtained a search warrant for the home and found a glass pipe, multiple bundles of stamp bags of heroin and syringes, according to court documents.

A neighbor’s surveillance video shows the moments emergency responders rushed the baby into an ambulance after they saved the infant’s life.

“We conducted a search warrant at the residence and found heroin and fentanyl that needs to be tested in the lab,” Lt. Venerando Costa with Allegheny County police told Channel 11.

According to the criminal complaint, Boyer was caring for the victim at the time of the incident. Police said she took off when officers arrived at the scene.

In one video, viewers can see Boyer standing by the ambulance. However, viewers can see her leave the scene right after the medics depart. She simply walks off around the side of her home.

Police have been looking for her since.

“While officers and medics were treating the child, the grandmother slipped away and walked away from the scene,” Lt. Costa added.

Sadly, it’s not the only child overdose that Allegheny County police have investigated this past weekend.

On Friday, a 13-year-old boy had a nearly fatal overdose in South Fayette. Police arrest his father, Geno Mitchell, after they say he had pills, stamp bags and fentanyl in his home.

Over the last year, there have been at least five cases where parents or caretakers were charged in the deaths or overdoses of children in Allegheny County.

Investigators say the availability of fentanyl is why we are seeing an increase in these types of cases.

“Fentanyl is regularly available and obviously deadly, so it’s going to be expected. If you have fentanyl and drugs in the home, children are going to get into it. They suffer the consequences,” Lt. Costa said.

Boyer is described as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and has a thin build. Police said she has ties to the McKees Rocks area.
