Gunshots outside Perry Traditional Academy send school on lockdown, damage building

PITTSBURGH — Shots fired outside of Perry Traditional Academy sent the school on lockdown Tuesday morning.

Pittsburgh police responded to the area for an 11-round shot spotter in the area of the school on Perrysville Avenue shortly after students arrived.

The school went into lockdown as a precaution.

Public safety officials said it was not at the school but nearby. Our crews on the scene could see police tape in front of the school and over a half-dozen evidence marks on the sidewalk.

No injuries were reported. Pittsburgh Police and Pittsburgh Public School Police are continue to investigate.
