HARP hopes to help pets find their forever home in time for the holidays with Mega Adoption Event

PITTSBURGH — Over the weekend, the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh is hoping pets will find their forever homes when the shelter takes part in a region-wide “Mega Adoption Event.”

The Mega Adoption Event is an effort in four states: Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and Maryland. HARP, as a local participating shelter, is inviting potential adopters to its two shelters to meet available animals.

The Mega Adoption Event takes place at HARP’s shelters on Pittsburgh’s East and North sides from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with the last adoption meet-and-greets at 3 p.m. Adoption fees are regular for kitten and puppies or $35 for adult animals. Each pet at HARP shelters will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, given vaccinations appropriate for their age at the time of adoption and given flea/tick protection. Dogs older than 6 months have been tested for heartworm.

“As an open-door shelter, HARP accepts all animals in need and provides them with the care they need and the love they deserve,” said Dr. Ariella Samson, HARP’s executive director. “Every pet deserves a second chance at love, and this Mega Adoption Event allows us to find homes for animals who have been waiting too long.”
