ARMSTRONG COUNTY, Pa. — A hazmat team was called to the Allegheny River in Armstrong County Wednesday after a tractor-trailer rolled over and spilled mineral oil into the river, according to Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection spokesman John Poister.
Emergency dispatcher said the rollover occurred around 3:45 p.m. near the Kittanning Bridge.
Poister said the tractor-trailer, which was hauling mineral oil – a light petroleum oil, was traveling on Tarrtown Road in East Franklin Township when the driver lost control and the truck rolled onto its side.

The tank cracked, causing 5,000 to 6,000 gallons of mineral oil to spill, creating a light sheen on the Allegheny River beneath the Kittanning Bridge, Poister said.
The driver was taken to the hospital for unspecified injuries.
The wreckage was removed and the road reopened around 8:30 p.m., according to Poister.
As of 9:30 p.m., crews remained at the accident site, working to soak up the mineral oil.
Communities downriver from the spill were notified, and Poister said there is no danger to the drinking water supply.
