ROBINSON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A state trooper with Butler’s criminal investigation unit is still in the hospital after being hit by a car along the Parkway West in Robinson Township last week.
Butler County Commissioner Leslie Osche said her son, Trooper Joshua Osche, 33, was off duty on Aug. 24, heading home from a concert at Star Lake when he stopped in his personal car to help at a crash scene involving a car and tow truck that was blocking traffic.

“He pulled over to block the vehicle in the passing lane and turned flashers on since there were no lights on exited the vehicle and put a safety vest on so people could see him,” said Leslie Osche.
She said when her son got out of the car to put flares out on the road, he was hit by a car and got seriously hurt.
“He knew his legs were broken he tried to scute himself and at that point the tow truck driver ran out into the middle of the parkway and pulled him off to the side or he would have been killed probably,” said Osche.
She said the tow truck driver saved her son’s life.
“We are looking forward to meeting him sometime in the future and our family is totally grateful he was the hero of the day,” said Osche.
Meanwhile, Osche said the driver of the car stole the tow truck, but state police would not confirm that information at this time.
State police said the driver who hit the trooper stayed on scene and no charges are expected.
Meanwhile, Osche shared on Facebook that her family and neighbors built a wheelchair ramp at their home for when her son returns home. She said she also appreciates all the support from the state police family and community.
“And that’s what makes butler county an amazing place to live, and we are very proud and honor to serve our community,” said Osche.
Governor Josh Shapiro called the trooper while he recovers at the Allegheny General Hospital. The trooper had his second surgery Thursday. His family hopes he will be released from the hospital in the upcoming days.
