High winds cause power outages throughout Pittsburgh region

Power is being restored after high winds knocked out service to hundreds in the region overnight.

At around 2 a.m. in Harmar, a traffic light was out on Freeport Road at Pearl Street, causing officials to block the road. Power was restored around 3 a.m. and the road reopened.

The total number of customers affected fluctuated as repairs were made and winds continued to cause damage. As of 5:15 a.m., about 333 customers were without power, according to Duquesne Light’s website, which can be checked here.
