PITTSBURGH — The Highland Park Pool is closed for the rest of the season after sustaining damage during last week’s strong storms.

According to the city, heavy rains sent “significant amounts of mud” running into both the main pool and the kiddie pool. Crews had to drain them in order to handle the mud.

“Upon further inspection, two of the three large water filter tanks will need a complete replacement before the pool can be refilled,” a statement from the city reads. “The repairs required to reopen Highland Park Pool are extensive and labor intensive; they will not be complete before the end of the 2022 pool season.”

To accommodate patrons who enjoyed the lap swim there, the city has extended the lap swim at the Bloomfield Pool for the rest of the season, effective Wednesday.

The Bloomfield, Magee, Ammon and Schenley pools are the closest operating pools to Highland Park.
