MANOR, Pa. — A husband and wife are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Manor, police said.
The Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office said a woman was found shot to death inside of a home Sunday at 6:22 p.m. A man was also found dead at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.According to Manor Borough Police, officers and detectives with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office responded to a home on Frederick Drive in Manor Borough just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.According to Manor Borough Police, officers and detectives with the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office responded to a home on Frederick Drive in Manor Borough just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday.
There, they found a woman and man both dead from gunshot wounds.
Through the investigation, they determined Jeffrey Day, 62, shot his wife, Theresa “Terri” Day, 51, and then took his own life.
Neighbors tell Channel 11′s Andrew Havranek Terri Day was a beloved nurse. Most recently, she was working at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville as a critical care nurse and the nurse manager of operations.
Allegheny Health Network sent Channel 11 a statement reading, “All of us at AHN are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of our colleague, and our thoughts are with Terri’s family and loved ones.”
Neighbors said the news of the apparent murder-suicide has shaken their small community, some even losing sleep.
One neighbor said she’s devastated for the couple’s two adult sons and other family members.
A visitation and prayer service are scheduled for next week.
