INDIANA COUNTY, Pa. — An Indiana County man is facing charges after he allegedly tracked a woman’s car with an Apple AirTag.

Pennsylvania State Police in Indiana County said Danish Ali, 33, was arrested and charged with criminal use of communication facility, stalking and harassment Thursday.

On Jan. 29 at around 8:00 p.m., a 32-year-old woman, reported that her Apple iPhone had alerted her that an AirTag was trying to connect to her phone while she was driving her vehicle. The victim said that she and her father searched her car for the AirTag, but couldn’t find it.

Police found the AirTag duct-taped to the back passenger-side wheel well.

State police tracked the AirTag back to Ali. He told police he put the AirTag on the victim’s car two days prior and without her knowledge in an attempt to find out where she was.

Ali’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 11.
