ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A father is fighting for his life after police say he was badly beaten inside a VFW in Beaver County.

Preston Coleman’s family tells Channel 11 that he lives near the VFW in Aliquippa and stops by often. He’s now fighting for his life after an “unprovoked” assault.

“[The] only thing they said is it’s going to be a long road for Preston, and it hurts,” Preston Coleman’s daughter told Channel 11.

There’s no telling when Coleman, a father and grandfather, will be out of the hospital and back with his family.

His daughter has been by his side the whole time.

“My dad is very strong. He carried the world on his back. He’d do anything for anybody,” she added

Aliquippa police tell Channel 11, that Coleman was at the local VFW earlier this week when he was brutally beaten for at least a half hour to the point where he was nearly unconscious, and defenseless.

“That right there is more hurtful... that no one rendered aid for that amount of time.”

Investigators say surveillance video captured a man punching Coleman in the face, slamming a barstool over his head, and standing on his throat.

“What he did was god awful, and he has caused pain that I’ll never forget. It hurts. And I just hope it’s handled in a good manner so I can get some peace. It’s been sleepless nights,” she said

Police are now looking for Brett Ours — who they say attacked Coleman, and left before officers got to the VFW.

Detectives are looking into the timeline of the attack, but Coleman’s family said it was unprovoked.

“There was no engagement, interaction, he doesn’t know him. He just sat there and it was a brutal attack.”

The family has questions about why it took so long for someone to call 911.

Their family attorney is holding a news conference on Thursday.
