K9 works last patrol with North Versailles Police Department

NORTH VERSAILLES — A K9 is officially retired after working its last patrol with the North Versailles Police Department on Saturday.

The North Versailles Police Department said the K9, Laky, began training in the fall of 2014. Lacky was trained with other K9s in the City of McKeesport, including his brother, Ryco.

Laky’s last patrol was in the City of McKeesport during their time of need after the death of officer Sean Sluganski in early February.

The K9 helped the department find fugitives and narcotics for nine years.

The department said the dog also spent a lot of time with the community and enjoyed spending time with children who would always rub his belly and pat his head.

Laky will now spend his time at home with his younger sister, eating carrots and licking yogurt containers.
