PITTSBURGH — A man was stabbed near the Benedum Center in Downtown Pittsburgh late Thursday night.
Crews were called to the 700 block of Liberty Avenue at 11:30 p.m.
Police tell us a man had been stabbed in the stomach and ran into the Benedum for help.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was taken into surgery. On Friday, investigators said he was upgraded to stable condition.
Reports indicate the victim had been engaged in some sort of altercation before the stabbing.
We reached out to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, which runs the Benedum. A spokesperson said, “The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is working with the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police to support their investigation of this incident. The Trust has provided video footage from its private security camera system and defers to authorities for further details.”
