MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — Two gunmen are still at large after police said they fired multiple shots at a vehicle in McKees Rocks on Friday afternoon. Police tell Channel 11 News this is a very active investigation, and they are still working to put the pieces together and arrest those men.
Channel 11 News was the only camera crew rolling outside of Carmody’s Grille on Neville Island when police towed away a bullet riddle red car. The car appeared to match the vehicle captured on surveillance footage early today speeding away from two gunmen.
Channel 11 News obtained exclusive surveillance video that captures the moments:
In the video, you can see a car speed across John Street following quickly behind the vehicle a man dressed in all black with a gun in his hands firing multiple times.
Neighbors said on John Street there is a mechanic shop, a trucking company, and a recording studio. They also told us they heard at least six shots go off just before 3 p.m.
We spoke with the McKees Rocks police, Captain David Finerty, who confirmed that a vehicle narrowly escaped the two gunmen.
For hours parts of Island Avenue were shut down while several police departments chased those individuals using K9s and drones.
Captain Finerty told Channel 11 News that the two men ran across Island Avenue into the wooded area across from Perogies Plus eatery and escaped officers before they could establish their perimeter.
Currently, McKees Rocks police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no danger to the public.
Officials are asking anyone with information to reach out to the McKees Rocks police.
