SUMMIT TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Route 422 in Butler County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to Butler County 911, the crash happened on Route 422 near Bonniebrook Road in Summit Township at 3:33 p.m.
Pennsylvania State Police said a Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling westbound on Route 422. For an unknown reason, the car traveled off the north side of the road and struck a guide rail.
The car traveled into the eastbound lane, where it was hit by a Ram 1500.
Both vehicles were severely damaged in the crash.
A passenger in the Cobalt, a 32-year-old Kittanning man, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Cobalt was flown to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital. Their condition is not known.
The driver of the Ram was not hurt.
Route 422 was closed after the crash and reopened shortly before 9 p.m.
The investigation is ongoing.
