CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Authorities said a Thursday morning house fire in Butler County may have been caused by a lightning strike.
The blaze was reported about 2:30 a.m. at a home on Woodbine Drive in Cranberry Township.
Emergency dispatchers said three people were inside the house at the time of the fire, and they were all able to safely escape. No injuries were reported.
Cranberry Township fire chief Brian Kovac said heavy rainfall caused some problems for firefighters.
“It makes it a little more dangerous due to the hillside over there. It makes everything a little muddier and a little more slippery,” Kovac said.
Meanwhile, a lightning strike is also being blamed for causing a fire at a Washington County home.
Firefighters quickly responded to the Hanover Township home and kept the flames from spreading.
A firefighter was injured after falling from a truck while battling the blaze. His name and condition haven’t been released.
