BUTLER, Pa. — A neighbor is shaken and a local man is behind bars after a wild night in the city of Butler.
Gina Devanno tells Channel 11 she got a rude awakening just before 2 a.m. Tuesday.
“I heard a bang and a ‘shh.’ I woke up because it was very loud,” she said. “All of a sudden, I start hearing ‘pop pop pop, pop pop pop.’ I decided to get up. I was creeping around because I could hear it was upstairs.”
Police say her upstairs neighbor, Nathan Ferraro, 33, was firing shots into her apartment. In total, Gina found three windows with bullet holes in them. One of the windows is right next to her bed.
Ferraro was arrested a short time later behind the house while carrying a rifle.
Channel 11 has learned it wasn’t his first run-in with police. Just a few days earlier, police say he’d been referred to mental health providers and had three guns taken for safe keeping. He was evaluated and released just hours later.
“I’d like to see him stay away from the area but I’d like to see him get whatever help he needs. He’s a young guy. He’s only 33-years-old,” she said.
Police say they found 28 spent rounds in Ferraro’s apartment. He’s facing a number of charges.
