Former star Woodland Hills football player dies after shooting in Larimer

PITTSBURGH — A man who died after a shooting in Larimer late Monday night was a standout football player in the Woodland Hills School District.

Gavin Yarbough, 21, was shot multiple times late Monday night and died in the hospital.

Yarbough was a standout football player at Woodland Hills High School who went on to play at Morgan State, a historically Black university in Baltimore.

The Woodland Hills superintendent released the following statement Tuesday night:

“The Woodland Hills community is devastated to learn of the passing of Gavin Yarbough, a 2021 graduate of Woodland Hills High School. Gavin was a popular and well-liked student during his time at Woodland Hills. Our sincere condolences are with his friends and family during this unimaginably difficult time. The district will make any and all resources available to students and staff in need.”

Police have not released any information on potential suspects.
