Man, 50, found fatally shot inside Homewood home

HOMEWOOD, Pa. — Authorities have identified a 50-year-old man who was found fatally shot inside his Homewood home Monday afternoon.

According to police, Virgil Bookert’s brother found his body inside the Stoneville Street home he shared with his mother and other family members just before 4 p.m.

Pittsburgh police Lt. Daniel Herrmann told Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE that the brother went to check on Booker after he failed to pick up his mother as planned.

No arrests have been made, and city homicide detectives haven’t released any information about possible suspects or a motive.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, officials said.
