PITTSBURGH — An elderly Pittsburgh woman was followed home, beaten and raped over the weekend.
Court documents state the 93-year-old woman was heading back to Troy Hill after seeing a play Downtown. The suspect, who investigators identified as Ronny Hough, got on the same bus as the victim and later got off at her stop, then broke into her home, attacked and raped her.
The woman was able to call 911 when Hough fell asleep.
“Pretty horrific. Still boggling my mind that this happened,” said Joseph Wehner, who is a neighbor of the victim. “I’ve been thinking about her dearly. We love her. She’s a great person, and she’s a pillar of the community here.”
Channel 11 dug into Hough’s background, and there’s a long list of prior charges, including harassment, indecent assault of a child, assault, false identification, and indecent exposure.
He is also a registered sex offender.
He’s now behind bars, and a judge denied him bond — adding that he’s a danger to the community.
Wehner told us, he wishes he could have been there to help.
“I don’t know how I would have reacted. I would have defended her for sure. I don’t know what the outcome would have been, but it probably wouldn’t have been good,” he said.
