Eric Sudduth-Jones, 24, is charged in the Oct. 6 shooting that killed Malcolm Nowlin, 26.
Nowlin was working as a bouncer at Dijlah Restaurant and Lounge in Lawrenceville when detectives said Sudduth-Jones tried to come in. According to the criminal complaint, witnesses told police when Malcolm wouldn’t let him inside because the hookah bar was closed, Sudduth-Jones started arguing and screaming at him.
Investigators said surveillance video from a restaurant across the street then shows Sudduth-Jones walking away from the bar, going to his car to get a gun from his trunk and shooting Malcolm, who died over the weekend.
Police said Sudduth-Jones drove off and later set his car on fire beneath a bridge in East Pittsburgh.
Detectives also said police had a run-in with Sudduth-Jones hours before the shooting. They said he led officers on a chase after refusing to pull over for a traffic stop.
Sudduth-Jones was arrested in Wilkinsburg on Monday.
He is charged with criminal homicide and is in the Allegheny County Jail.
