ALLEGHENY COUNTY, Pa. — A Wilkinsburg man is facing charges for allegedly fleeing from police and nearly striking a cruiser in connection with what started as a domestic dispute.

Shaler police chief Sean Frank thanked his community for helping to track down Kenneth Sharp-Haymon, who led police from Shaler and Ross Township on a chase.

“They were right there with us, helping us search…we have good cooperation from all of the local departments,” Frank said

Nest video obtained by Channel 11 shows the moments right before Sharp-Haymon was captured, following what police say started as a domestic situation outside of the Omega Federal Credit Union on Tuesday. Court documents said a woman was seen screaming and honking the horn of a Kia Forte in the parking lot.

Witnesses told Ross Township police that a man, later identified as Sharp-Haymon, sat on the woman in the driver’s seat and sped away, eventually ending up in Shaler, allegedly almost hitting an officer’s cruiser.

“It was driving erratically as if there was some kind of struggle going on inside the vehicle. At one point, it looked like the passenger’s door was open,” Frank said.

Shaler police were along Mt. Royal Boulevard when they saw the Kia Forte swerving and speeding. It almost hit a utility pole, came to a stop, and police said Sharp-Haymon got out and started running.

“The search went on for approximately an hour. We had received a couple of tips that he was sighted here and there,” Frank said.

Surveillance video shows Sharp-Haymon walking through a backyard on Wilson Street. Neighbors called the police, who tracked him down on Glenn Avenue near the Harley-Davidson dealership.

“That’s where they were able to corner him between some fencing and the wall. He did try to flee from them then and had a short foot pursuit, and we were able to take him into custody without incident,” Frank said.

Sharp-Haymon was arrested and faces several charges, including fleeing, assault, reckless endangerment, and drug possession. He’s in the Allegheny County jail.
