MONONGAHELA, Pa. — A man is facing charges after an hours-long SWAT situation in Monongahela on Wednesday.
Police tried to arrest the suspect, Emmanuel Houghton, 19, at multiple scenes in the area throughout the day.
According to the criminal complaint, a woman from Monongahela reported her and her husband’s cars stolen from their driveway overnight Wednesday. One of the cars was then seen in the city and police gave chase through New Eagle and Union Township. The driver fired shots at a pursuing officer and nearly hit another officer’s car during the pursuit.

Officers lost sight of the vehicle went it went south back toward New Eagle.
Just before 3:30 p.m., a woman called 911 and said Houghton came out of an attic in an apartment building. He was covered in dirt and had two handguns. He requested a vape so she left the building, the complaint said.
Police and SWAT units set up a perimeter around a building on Third Street. Houghton surrendered several hours later.
Channel 11 interviewed Ronald Dalesandry, a neighbor who spotted the suspect as he ran from the abandoned car.
“I was walking down the street and cops stopped me told me there was an armed shooter. They were chasing him. I walked by and I seen a guy run in the alley, jumping the railing, banging on the downstairs doors and running into the building,” Dalesandry said.
Police searched that home but cleared it. They now believe he was hiding in the attic. A woman who lived there called 911 hours later saying he exited the attic covered in dirt, carrying two guns. She told police he asked her for a vape.
The SWAT team rushed back to the same street and surrounded that home. While officers had long guns pointed at the window, Houghton was streaming live on Facebook saying he wouldn’t come out and would shoot any officer who came in.
Dalesandry, like many neighbors and 3,000 viewers, watched the suspect broadcasting live online. He was surprised to see four guns.
“He had a backpack on him, more likely they were all in there. I seen his live stream and he was showing off his guns, and how much ammo he had.”
Houghton is charged with attempted criminal homicide, attempted aggravated assault, receiving stolen property, fleeing or attempting or elude a police officer and firearms charges.
