NEW CASTLE, Pa. — A man is facing charges related to a burglary that happened in New Castle.
Court documents say Michael Javon Jackson, 29, was charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of criminal mischief.
Police said he broke a latch to get into the Old New Mercer Mini Mart and then used stairs to get into apartments that have access to the Le Resto Restaurant on North Mercer Street.
The burglary happened on Nov. 23rd and Jackson was charged on Tuesday.
He allegedly broke a door to gain access to a closet.
A surveillance camera recorded him going through a cash register where there was no money at the time.
A photo was pulled from that video and shared on social media, which helped police identify Jackson as a suspect. Police said he was also being investigated as a suspect in a similar burglary nearby.
Police took him into custody in downtown New Castle and said he confessed to the crimes during an interview after they read him his Miranda Rights.
