Man dies after being shot in chest in Pittsburgh neighborhood

East Hills Drive Pittsburgh police investigators on scene of a shooting on East Hills Drive that left a man in critical condition.

PITTSBURGH — Pittsburgh police say a man has died after being shot Saturday morning.

According to information released by police Saturday, the man called 911 around 11 a.m. after he was shot in the chest on the 2300 block of East Hills Drive.

Detectives in the area were able to help the man within minutes. He was then taken to the hospital in critical condition. In an update released Sunday morning, police said the man died at the hospital.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the man who died as 37-year-old Allen Jerrone Stevens.

Police say a firearm was recovered from the scene, and a woman was questioned at police headquarters.

The department’s Violent Crime Unit is investigating.
