PITTSBURGH — A search for a missing woman took a deadly turn when a man was shot and killed after police said he confronted Pittsburgh police officers with a gun Thursday night.
Pittsburgh police responded to the 1400 block of Rydal Street in Pittsburgh’s Westwood neighborhood around 8:58 p.m. to assist Robinson Township police with locating a missing woman.
The woman from Robinson Township was reported missing and endangered by family earlier that evening at 6:45 p.m.
Police said her vehicle was found parked in the 1400 block of Rydal Street.
Around 9:28 p.m., officers went to the front door of a home they learned may have been associated with the woman’s vehicle. That’s when police said a 43-year-old man confronted officers with a revolver, and a Pittsburgh police officer shot the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the man as 43-year-old Brian Fisher of Pittsburgh.
The revolver was found next to Fisher’s right hand, according to Allegheny County police.
Police said the missing woman was found inside the home. It’s unclear if she was being held against her will, or what brought her to the home. We’re working to learn more about those circumstances.
