A man was shot to death Monday morning in Clairton.
Police responded to a shooting at a home in the 400 block of Miller Avenue around 7:24 a.m. The victim was found with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
“It’s time for us to speak up. I don’t know how many more losses we have to have before people start to speak up,” said Tina Ford, who lost her son to gun violence in 2019.
Ford is frustrated after yet another homicide in the Mon Valley.
“It’s sad. It is. I’m not understanding. As much as I promote awareness for losing my son four years ago, it doesn’t feel like it’s making a powerful enough statement for people to understand this (is) serious and it’s traumatic,” Ford said.
Ford told Channel 11 this latest homicide hits close to home. She said Reuben Kelley, 29, who was identified as the victim, is like a nephew to her and she’s devastated by this loss.
“His dad is like a brother to me and once I heard what happened I came here to support the family,” Ford said.
County Police said Kelley was found shot inside his home Monday morning, but as for any other details, the information is limited.
“He was very loved and known in the community so it’s a sad day for us here,” Ford said.
Allegheny County police are investigating.
