Man killed in Armstrong County car crash; woman, 2 kids injured

RAYBURN TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man is dead and a woman and two children are injured after a car crash in Rayburn Township.

According to the Armstrong County coroner’s office, 72-year-old Richard Eckner was driving on Upper Hayes Run Road and didn’t stop at a stop sign when he came up on State Route 28/66.

Another car, driving north on State Route 28/66, hit the driver’s side of Eckner’s car.

Eckner was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the coroner’s office.

The coroner’s office also said the woman and two minor children sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.

The coroner’s office was assisted at the scene by PSP Kittanning, Rayburn Township VFD, Kittanning Township VFD, Pine Township VFD, Kittanning Hose Co. #6 VFD, and Kittanning #6 Ambulance.

No further details are available and the cause of the crash is still under investigation by PSP Kittanning and the Armstrong County Coroner’s Office.
