PITTSBURGH — A man is dead after an officer-involved shooting in Allentown Friday morning.

According to the Allegheny County Police Department, on Dec. 24, officers were called for a report of a man armed with a gun in the 800 block of E. Warrington Avenue.
While investigating that incident, officers learned the man had previous felony convictions and was not able to possess a firearm.
Pittsburgh Police then obtained a search warrant for the man and the apartment on E. Warrington Avenue.
Around 6 a.m. Friday, the Pittsburgh Police SWAT team tried to serve that warrant. Police say the man fired shots at officers. They returned fire and the man barricaded inside the apartment.
During the standoff situation, a second officer-involved shooting occurred and the man was found dead at the scene. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified him as Mark Coleman, 45.
The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating. The status of the officers involved in the incident will be determined by Pittsburgh Police in accordance with their policies and procedures.
