MILWAUKEE — A man was shot and killed by an out-of-town officer blocks away from the Republican National Convention security perimeter in Milwaukee Tuesday.
NBC affiliate WTMJ-TV reports the man walked across the street with a knife in each hand and engaged in an “altercation” with another man. He was shot in the back by an officer from Columbus, Ohio, after police made commands for him to drop the knife and he started to charge at the other man.
The man was homeless. WTMJ-TV reports he was 43 years old.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
The shooting is not believed to be connected to the RNC.
