PITTSBURGH — A major milestone for a local couple was captured on-camera by a stranger.

Autumn Adams and Devin McCulloch have been dating since college and got engaged Thursday near the PPG Place ice rink.

The pair celebrated with family and friends.

“One cousin was actually taking photos of me, so I didn’t even notice other pictures being taken,” Adams said.

But they were. Amateur photographer Dan Barley had just gotten a new camera and wanted to see the tree at PPG Place.

“I was actually taking a picture of someone ice skating and I saw ‘look what’s going on there.’ There was a proposal happening six feet over there,” Barley said.

He wanted to share the pictures with the happy couple, so took a shot in the dark and posted a message on Reddit.

Just a few hours later, Adams sent him a message.

“I would never have thought something like this would happen to us. We’re just local people. We don’t really do social media or anything like that,” Autumn said.

The couple happy to have a keepsake of their big moment.

“It’s not often you see people just do something out of the kindness of their heart, so it was nice for a change.”
