A suspect in a Morgantown, West Virginia homicide was taken into custody Monday night by Pennsylvania State Police in Uniontown, the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Arlo Romano, 42, was wanted for the murder of Matthew Moore, 46, of Morgantown. The sheriff’s office said Moore’s body was found on Round Bottom Road in Morgantown on May 7. Romano is facing charges of first-degree murder and felony conspiracy.
State police in Fayette County said they were contacted around 7:35 p.m. Monday for reports of a retail theft happening at the Uniontown Walmart in South Union Township. Police said they encountered a man and woman inside the store, who were detained and interviewed.
The man provided false identification, according to police, but through an investigation and a mobile ID scanner, troopers were able to identify him as Romano.
State police said Romano had a 1995 Honda Nighthawk motorcycle that was stolen out of Preston County, West Virginia. When Romano was taken back to the Pennsylvania State Police barracks in Uniontown, troopers said they found drugs and paraphernalia on him.
State police said Romano will face multiple additional charges out of Uniontown.
