MCKEES ROCKS, Pa. — An annual tradition continues at Mancini’s Bakery in McKees Rocks with the “Snoopy and the Bread Baron” bread sculpture.
The creation weighs around 250 pounds and measures 8 feet wide by 4 feet high. It took around three hours to form and one hour and 40 minutes to bake.
The bakery said owner Nick Hartner came up with the idea after seeing the Snoopy Doghouse on Stanwix Street during a detour and someone at this year’s Light Up Night wearing a Red Baron Snoopy sweater. Someone on Mancini’s social media page suggested the name.
“I’ve always loved A Charlie Brown Christmas. It’s the movie I watched as a child, and this year, I shared it with my daughter,” said Hartner. “When something as timeless as that continues to resonate across generations, it’s clear that it’s something truly special, something everyone can connect with.”
“Painting it took longer than making and baking it,” said Hartner. “It’s been a challenge every year to add complexity to the bread art, so that it’s a fresh experience for everyone to enjoy. This year, I think we’ve really captured something unique, fun, and heartwarming.”
The “Snoopy and the Bread Baron” sculpture is part of the bakery’s ongoing tradition and will be on display at the McKees Rocks location now through the holiday season.
