Serial high-end retail theft suspect leads police on chase to hotel in Cranberry Township

CRANBERRY, Pa. — Police are looking for a man they say led police on a chase to a hotel in Cranberry Township.

The suspect prompted a massive police search at the Clarion Inn on Route 19 Wednesday. Police from several municipalities surrounded the hotel, as well as the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident started near the Ross Park Mall and later led to a police pursuit. Ross Township police said they are investigating a serial high-end retail theft suspect, but he ran away when they tried to stop him.

The suspect was later spotted by Franklin Park police and hit another car while fleeing officers. The driver of the other car had a minor leg injury.

Franklin Park police chased the suspect onto I-79 and then onto the Pennsylvania Turnpike. During the chase, the suspect’s car got a flat tire, causing him to lose control and hit a barrier. He ran on foot to the hotel, police said.

Police have since cleared from the scene in front of the hotel and said they are still looking for the suspect.

After a brief search at the Clarion Inn, police realized the suspect was already gone.

Police believe the man jumped into a car with someone else. They have not yet released the suspect’s name, but urge people to call Franklin Park police if they notice anything suspicious.
