KECKSBURG, Pa. — Members of a volunteer EMS service in Westmoreland County are sounding the alarm after they say the locks on their ambulance garage were suddenly changed.
Long-time member Kevin Hendrick said the discovery was made on Saturday at the Kecksburg Ambulance Service.
Hendrick said they were trying to answer a 911 call but another department had to answer the call instead because they could not get inside.
He said there is now confusion over what will happen to the service.
“What’s concerning though is that people pay for an ambulance subscription and Kecksburg hasn’t been answering those calls and mutual aid and Medic 10 have had to go in their place and now people are asking the questions, ‘Well what will happen to my subscription? Is mutual aid going to honor it?’” Hendrick said.
A note telling residents the service will be closing has been placed on the building, but Hendricks said no details have been provided.
