PITTSBURGH — Freezing rain could cause an icy start and make travel dangerous early Tuesday. A wintry mix is expected to develop before sunrise when air and road temperatures are below freezing creating a glaze of ice on untreated surfaces during the morning commute.
A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 1 a.m. until noon Tuesday for areas from I-70 north including Allegheny, Washington, Westmoreland, Beaver, Butler, Armstrong, Indiana counties.
Icy conditions could develop around Pittsburgh, Washington, Greensburg, Beaver and Butler before 4 a.m., so allow extra time to check the live Severe Weather Team 11 forecast before heading out.
Temperatures are expected to slowly climb through the morning allowing the wintry mix to change to all rain by Tuesday afternoon.
Keep the umbrella handy through the rest of the week though, with more rain and milder temperatures on the way.
