PITTSBURGH — The owners of 16 vehicles parked in the Alco public parking garage on Oliver Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh woke up Wednesday morning to find their cars vandalized.
Surveillance video, captured by a Tesla that was targeted, and obtained by Channel 11, shows a man dressed in all black and wearing a blue head and face covering bashing the vehicles, seemingly at random, on the front and rear windshields.

“I don’t know why somebody would do this. I don’t really see the motive behind it, other than being a lunatic,” said Tyler Protiva. He and his fiancée live in the Lumiere apartment building connected to the garage.
They had three vehicles targeted.
Protiva found the damage around 4:30 am as he was headed to the gym, but says the vehicles were damaged around 12:30 am.
“The one car I just brought in the other night for the summer. It’s my baby, my pride and joy and it got smashed. [I’m] not too happy,” said Protiva.
Pittsburgh Police are investigating and released photos of the suspect riding a green dirt bike into the garage.
Investigators say nothing was stolen from any of the vehicles vanadalized, but Protiva says the hundreds of dollars worth of damage is bad enough.
“I’ve got to start calling the insurance company,” he said. “I know the deductibles are $500 each and I know I have paint damage and body damage on the car — a little bit on the hood — so definitely not great.”
Protiva hopes the garage considers adding overnight security and would like to see a better police presence around the clock downtown.
“I love downtown, but I don’t love having to worry about crime,” said Protiva.
If you recognize the man in the surveillance images, or know anything about this incident, you’re asked to contact Pittsburgh police.
Channel 11 reached out to the operators of the garage, AlcoParking, but did not hear back.
