PITTSBURGH — Police in Bethel Park and Mount Lebanon will be stepping up enforcement efforts, after a study found that more than 80 percent of drivers were speeding on roads in those communities.
According to Channel 11's news exchange partners at TribLIVE, electronic speed trailers tracked and stored information on 300,000 vehicles in April and May.

Some drivers were traveling as fast as 77 mph on streets with a posted speed limit of 35 mph, according to the data.
Bethel Park police told TribLIVE the study is part of a partnership between the departments and Allstate, which donated a speed trailer to each community.
The trailers can be controlled remotely by computer and record passing motorists' speeds.
