NEW FLORENCE, Pa. — The chief of the New Florence Volunteer Fire Department is accused of threatening to kill a firefighter from a neighboring department.

According to court paperwork, an on-duty police officer witnessed Boring speeding through a perimeter and traffic control set up by the Seward Volunteer Fire Company for a search detail.
Boring allegedly called the assistant chief and threatened to kill him, saying, “I don’t care who else is around, including your family or whoever gets in the way. I’ll kill them, too,” the court paperwork said.
Boring's arrest came just weeks after New Florence's assistant fire chief, Kenneth Steiner, was suspended over allegations that he had sex with an aspiring junior firefighter. Steiner was arrested and charged with indecent sexual assault.
Borough officials said they weren't aware of the latest round of trouble for the department.
New Florence’s mayor said there is no outside governing body that oversees the fire department, but he said that might be investigated as a possibility in the near future.
The deputy fire chief of the New Florence Volunteer Fire Department told Channel 11 that he couldn’t comment on the situation because he doesn’t know all the facts yet, but he said the department will continue to run and respond to calls as normal.
