New Munhall fire chief officially sworn in, follows in father’s footsteps

MUNHALL, Pa. — A new chief of the Munhall Bureau of Fire was sworn in Tuesday night at the borough’s monthly council meeting.

Glenn Coles, Munhall’s newest fire chief, is following in his father’s footsteps. His father, William Coles, was sworn in for his last term as Munhall’s chief 29 years ago.

“Watching my dad growing up was the main part,” Glenn Coles said. “Seeing him go into the station, hanging out at the fire hall as a young kid, just seeing what they do, I knew I was going to do it from a very young age.”

Glenn Coles is a fourth generation firefighter.

All of the volunteer firefighters dressed in their Class A uniforms as a surprise Tuesday night to congratulate him.
