News anchor Darieth Chisolm resigns her position at WPXI

PITTSBURGH — Channel 11 news director Mike Oliveira has announced that anchor Darieth Chisolm will be leaving the station sometime between late August and late September.

"Darieth came to us and said she wanted to resign and spend more time with her family," Oliveira stated. "Quite frankly, we were shocked. Darieth has been a remarkable talent for Channel 11 for 20 years and a key part of the station's success at 11 p.m. We will miss her."

Chisolm explained her decision with the following statement.

"My son is entering his senior year in high school and before we send him to college and into the world, I want to spend as much time with him as possible. I also have a growing and expanding business, speaking and coaching engagements and lots to do in my next 20 years, so it's time to make this transition."

Darieth joined the Channel 11 News team in February 1993 as an anchor and reporter. She left for a four-year hiatus in 2000 and returned to Channel 11 in April 2004. A search will begin immediately for her replacement.
