North Hills School Board votes to keep ‘Indians’ name, but to discontinue use of Indian chief logo

ROSS TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The North Hills School Board voted to keep their “Indians” mascot, but starting next school year, they will no longer use the chief logo.

The vote to discontinue the use of the logo passed 7-2 Friday night.

The school district will now work with a graphic designer to establish a new logo and images before the start of the next school year. The district said all items throughout the schools with the existing logos, including signs and uniforms, will be replaced under the normal replacement cycle.

There’s no word on how much it will cost the district, but making a similar change has cost other schools anywhere from $4,000 to $100,000.
